THE CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION GET SET FOR GREAT NORTH RUN
Staff at The Children’s Foundation have dusted off their headbands and dug out their trainers – as they get ready to take part in this year’s Great North Run.
The North-East charity is being sponsored to take part in the Great North Run by Kavli, makers of Primula cheese, whose Team Valley-based employees are raising money for The Children’s Foundation team.
The Children’s Foundation raises funds to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people across the North East. Kerry McCormack, office manager, and fundraising manager Libby Nolan are taking part in the run alongside Professor Steven Singleton. Prof Singleton is the regional director for public health, medical director of the North East Strategic Health Authority as well as the chair of trustees for The Children’s Foundation.
Prof Singleton said: “All three of us are looking forward to the run. It is a chance for us to raise money for a very worthwhile cause and improve our health and fitness. Karen and Libby know first-hand the importance of fundraising and we all thought taking part in the Great North Run was a good chance to personally contribute to the donations we receive all year round.
“As regional director for public health and trustee for The Children’s Foundation this gives me a great opportunity to lead by example and take part in vital fundraising as well as promoting healthy living.”
Kavli is based in Gateshead and have recently appointed The Children’s Foundation as their official charity for the next two years. Employees at Kavli have already supported The Children’s Foundation by carrying out a number of fundraising events this year.
Craig Brooks, Managing Director of Kavli said: “We are delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile charity – The Children’s Foundations works tirelessly to improve the lives of thousands of children from all over the North East and we are honoured to be showing our support at this celebrated event.”
